Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan

MCAG is preparing a Community Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan, which is a strategic document to prepare the Merced region for a future with more electric vehicles. The plan, once completed, will guide MCAG towards a future where if a vehicle is necessary, it is powered by clean, renewably sourced electricity rather than fossil fuels.

The EV Readiness Plan will:

  • Identify existing and potential sites for electric vehicle charging stations to support EV adoption.
  • Address challenges specific to the Merced region such as implementation of EV infrastructure permits, policies, and funding.
  • Educate and inform the community, stakeholders, and MCAG staff about electric vehicles and their associated infrastructure.

The ultimate goal of the plan is to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve air quality in the Merced region by preparing the community to welcome and encourage electric vehicle use in lieu of driving gas-powered vehicles.

EV Readiness Plan is now available for public comment! Please send comments in writing to Blake Dunford by email to blake.dunford@mcagov.org or to the MCAG Office at 369 West 18th Street, Merced, CA 95340. The Plan will be open for comments through September 1st and is anticipated to be brought to the MCAG Governing Board at its October 19th Meeting.
